Bel Canto School of Singing - Welcome

The Bel Canto School of Singing is one of the first specialist singing school of its kind in Northern Ireland. Aimed at young, emerging singers who wish to formalise their learning through graded singing exams, the School will nurture the potential muscian in every child. The School will adopt an 'holistic' approach to learning, using the best practice in current vocal pedagogy which will include the study of:-

Tonic sol fa through the Kodaly approach which will enable students to develop inner hearing and sight reading skills;
Postural alignement & breath control through work with Aexander Technique & Pilates tutors;
'Bel Canto' vocal technique giving students a working knowledge of their voices and how to look after them;
Drama and movement that will ignite students' imaginations and give them interpretation skills; ;
Singing in Italian, French, German & Spanish through exchange programmes with other international singing schools; and
Regular Master Classes with guest Tutors and Student Concerts where students can learn the skills of performance, artistry and communication.

Students will be taught in small groups which will allow them to develop their ' solo' voice gradually and learn by imitating their peers. This style of teaching works beautifully for younger singers and is invaluable to students learning to critically evaluate music and thereby, develop important listening skills and and self awareness as a performer. As students become more accomplished as singers, they will have more 1-1 tuition along with Master Classes with Guest Tutors.
