Elizabeth Drwal-Stuttard

Elizabeth Drwal-Stuttard studied Music at Leeds University and Visual Arts and Film at Goldsmiths College, London. She has subsequently benefited greatly from a varied career in theatre, television and opera. She has worked extensively as Assistant Producer and Stage Director with most of the major UK and Irish Opera companies, including Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, RTE and The Abbey Theatre, Dublin as Assistant Producer and Stage Director before finally returning to the Gate Theatre, Dublin to act as a voice coach and Assistant Director.

Elizabeth specialises in teaching singing, musicianship and performance skills to younger singers believing that learning to sing well empowers students to develop life skills such as confidence, listening and concentration. in recent years, she has been using her skills working with young students to help them develop their musiciality and vocal skills through song and percussion based on the principles of Kodaly.

In Summer 2007, she attended a Teacher Training Course run by the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS) and is presently pursuing her interest in the work of Alfred Tomatis, a specialist ENT doctor, who has devised a therapy programme which assists with training the ear to receive sounds and process them more accurately. Elizabeth joined Marie and Pat at the International Choice for Voice conference run by the British (BVA) this Summer in London.
